Is My Partner Cheating?: Apps That Hide Texts Messages and Calls

There are many cell phone companies putting out a wide arrange of new phone applications for their users. One group of apps that struck my attention was the newer one that will hide texts and phone calls from contacts the user puts into this app. What happens is that when you download this app you choose the people you want to hide on your contact list. Once you put these contacts into the app, any calls or text messages they send to you will not alert you like regular calls and texts. When the user is contacted by people they have stored in an app things like "software update available" will show up on their phone instead of "new message".

To read the messages or look at the phone calls the user goes to the icon representing the secret app (this can be any number of secret icons like a purse, a baseball, or even just a picture) and has to use a password to get in. If anyone else clicks on the app and doesn't know where to enter the password things like "system error" will show up deterring any unwanted reader away. Some examples of these apps are "Blacklist", "HMT (hide my text) Invisibility" and "420 Hide Text/Call Log".

This new technology allows for an easy way for people to be dishonest. At least that is the only use for these apps that I could think of. While doing some research I found out what some users had to say about these apps in reviews or looking for similar products.

They must have known that apps like these would be a hit. People lie and cheat all the time and now they have help. People are worried about things showing up on their phone bills so obviously a lot of users are married, in serious relationships, or hiding things from their parents. So are the phone companies to blame? Partially- but people are going to do these things with or without helpful apps like these. However, sometimes that extra help can play a role in devastating lives and families.
